I'm My Mother's Daughter

Here is how I know without a doubt that I came from my mom's belly...we both love to start projects, but we each have an issue with finishing things.  Go to my mom's house anytime and she usually has several projects going on.  I just realized mine is the same way!  Seriously, how did that happen???  I had all winter to get all these projects done and not one was finished.  Wait I take that back...I did get my end tables spray painted and I love them, but other than that nothing.  So, I figure by putting this out in cyber space this will help to get things done around the house.  This weekend I have to finish painting my dinning room table!  I am determined to get it done.  I am so sick of having a card table in my house...yes I said it, a card table now serves as my dinning room table.  It has for over a year.  I would say this is getting a little ridiculous!  Let's see how I do!  Have a great weekend everyone!

Two For The Price Of One!

My sister finally had her much anticipated twins!  I was so excited when I got the call at 2 in the morning and her water broke!  We, my parents and my siblings, all rushed up to the hospital to see how things would go.  I got there first and my sister said what are you doing here?  I told my I would call when we know what is going on.  I told her we couldn't wait and everyone would be up here soon.  We were all so excited.  Turns out she didn't have her C-section until 7 AM, but it was still fun to be up there with the family.  There really is nothing like the excitement of waiting for a little one to join our family and we were waiting for two little ones!  We had been joking that my sister really wanted the twins to come on my Grandma Wilk's birthday and her water broke just in time.  They were born on the same day as my grandmother.  I really felt like grandma was looking down on us that day and I know she was so happy to send these wonderful babies to be part of our family.

Lewis arrived with his other grandma around 7 and he of course had his Big Brother t-shirt on.  He was pretty excited and knew that "two babies" would be joining us soon.  The babies finally came out of the delivery room with their dad...they were so cute.  They were just curled up with each other.  My brother-in-law loves to joke around with us and he would NOT tell us the babies names.  They had kept it a secret from us the entire pregnancy.  If I'm honest, I don't really think they had any idea what to call them until a few weeks before they arrived.

Finally the doctor accidentally spilled the beans to all of us outside the nursery and we were introduced to Spencer Thomas and Riley Ann.

They are seriously so cute! I have been having so much fun with them. I was able to take several days off work and stay overnight to help my sister.  It was such hard work, but I wouldn't trade it for anything.  I feel really close to both of my nieces and my nephews.  It is so fun to have two of each now!

I'm Not 30, I'm 20-10

So it finally happened.  I turned...30.  Actually it hasn't been too bad.  Honestly I can't say I feel different.  Although, it is strange when I have to fill out a survey and I am no longer in the 25-29 age group.  Naturally there are those feelings of...I thought I would have accomplished more in my life by now, but hey I still done a lot of wonderful things.  I have a lot to proud of.  At least that is what I keep telling myself!

Rather than the traditional birthday cake...my very hip mom had cupcakes instead.  Here are some pics...it looks like the cupcakes may cave in or completely melt.  After all, 30 candles is A LOT.  I still got them all in one breathe.  Okay, Cassidy and Lewie helped a little!

Check out that flame!  This is most certainly close to a fire hazard.

Disney On Ice

I had the chance to go with my niece, sister, and my parents to Disney On Ice.  It was so much fun.  We were of course running late because it was in Council Bluffs.  Grandpa turned right to Cassidy and said, don't step in this puddle of mud--naturally Cassidy decided she would step in the mud.  She left her shoe in the mud and then she was so confused as to how this happened.  So, I picked her up and we ran into the bathroom...what a mess.  Although once we got to our seats we had a blast.  We were pretty close to all the action and we got to see all the Disney favorites.  It was quite the show.  I have to say I wasn't expecting much, but it was really good.  Cassidy didn't take her eyes off the rink except to say...Is there going to be more?  She loved it!  Naturally being the unprepared auntie that I am I forgot my camera, so I just have some pics from by crackberry.  Now of course I keep my camera in my purse at all times! :)

They had a part where all of the famous couples came out and "danced" together.  It was pretty cute.  Naturally Cassidy was naming off all of them and looking around at all the different couples.  Then of course she said, "Where is Sleeping Beauty?"  Oh crap, how did she notice that!  Naturally my sister and I thought fast...um, "She must be sleeping."  Thankfully that one worked.  She is only 4, so we can slip a few things by her!

So here are some pics from the event:

See that picture of Nemo in the bottom corner.  That was a Nemo hat being worn by a 40+ woman.  Seriously, I think those are for kids.  She had it on the entire show!
All sorts of Disney characters.  It was really fun to see all the couples.  Honestly, I had forgotten half of them!

She was very excited to eat her frozen ice drink.
The show ended with fireworks...I was pretty impressed with this little ice show.

Let It Snow!?!

A few years ago I found myself complaining that we never get as much snow as we used to when I was a kid. I even went so far as to feel bad for the kids growing up now because they didn't get to make snow tunnels or big snow forts like I did. Well now that we are getting even MORE snow today I would like to retract that thought. On the bright side I do have a great view from my office window. All winter it has looked like I am inside a snow globe with blustering snow and HUGE flakes falling to the ground. I do have to say when I can sit inside and sip some hot coco I do enjoy the snow. Now if I just didn't have to work today...guess I should get back to it! Have a great weekend everyone and enjoy the white stuff!

First Time For Everything

So, I have joined the world of bloggers....I enjoy reading other people's so much, so why not? For awhile I thought...what on earth would I blog about. Then I realized how opinionated I am and I realized that may not be an issue! I'm a single gal that purchased my first home about 9 months ago. Owning a home is HARD work, but I love making it my own and decorating. I even enjoy the yard work! So, here goes nothing. I promise tomorrow's post will be much more exciting!!!
